Dividing Everything Equitably

Many times, when children are gathered together, there will be days when you’ll only have a limited amount of something to eat which each child wants entirely for himself. Maybe it will be one last slice of delicious, homemade chocolate cake. Maybe it’ll be a favorite candy bar or perhaps half a pizza leftover from last night’s party. Whatever it is, you can be sure everyone there wants the entire thing for himself. In no time at all there will be loud bickering over who gets to eat it.

The perfect solution to this type of dilemma whenever and wherever this may occur is to appoint one child to be in charge of dividing the item equally with the stipulation that all the others get to choose the piece they want first.

This way, you can be sure the one chosen to divide the object will be extra careful that each piece is equal in size, insuring the very last piece remaining is no smaller than any of the others, ending all controversy.

Applying this bit of wisdom whenever needed is as fair and equitable as can possibly be.
