Guarding Against Painful Paper Cuts

Postal workers, office workers and others in professions handling large quantities of paper often end up with painful paper cuts on their fingers and hands.

To avoid paper cuts, you need to reduce or eliminate friction.

Keep your hands moisturized with a good moisturizer like Eucerin Cream or Lubriderm Cream or the generic equivalent. The moisturizer acts as a barrier, reducing friction, preventing paper from slicing tiny cuts into ultra dry skin. Lotion will not create the superior protective barrier that the cream does, because it is too watered down.

Reapply as often as needed when hands start feeling dry.

  1. I never knew this, Franceska! Great advice. Thanks so much. I’m setting a bottle of cream right next to my bill basket so I’ll remember to use it next time I have to sit and pay my monthly bills (the usual time I get a paper cut.)
